I recently got the opportunity to visit Cape Town’s newest attraction, the impressive Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA), with my sister and a friend. We chose to go on a Wednesday because, as African citizens, entry is free between 10am and 1pm every Wednesday! BONUS!
I was so impressed with everything the museum had to offer. The structure itself is a sight to behold, with the original Grain Silos being used to house the museum. The vast concrete tubes were redesigned to showcase the collection of contemporary art from all over Africa.
If you are in Cape Town, it is definitely worth a trip to Zeitz MOCAA, situated in the Silo District at the V&A Waterfront.
Tickets can be bought online or at the door and cost R180 per adult. All under 18’s get in for free.
I would highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes as you do a lot of walking, and with 6 floors there’s a lot of stairs too (unless you want to use the lift of course).
All the walking definitely helped us build up a massive appetite and when we were done staring at beautiful art and sculptures, we headed to Si, a restaurant just around the corner from the museum, inside the Silo District and refueled on wine and flatbread.
All in all, it was an incredible day exploring our beautiful city!
Now all we need is for God to send LOTS of rain!
With love,
