I first fell in love with Tintswalo Atlantic when we started looking for Wedding venues back in 2015. All it takes is one look at a photo from the boutique beach lodge for you to fall head over heels in love with the place. The venue was too small for the sized wedding we planned to have but the location left a lasting impression. I always said to Nick that I hoped we’d get a chance to stay there someday.
Since then I’ve seen many influencers like Campsbaygirl and Aisha Baker (Baked the Blog) stay there and capture the most incredible content, because how could you not when the location is so exquisite. Needless to say it was high up on my bucket list of places I wanted to visit.
Fast forward to September 2019 and Nick texts me at work to say that Tintswalo Atlantic have invited us to stay there for the night, as part of a Safari.com educational, ahead of their reopening, following the fire that burnt down the main lodge at the beginning of last year. I nearly lost my mind with excitement!
And it did not disappoint.

The drive is quick an easy (on a Sunday it took us about 30-40minutes at 3:30pm from Green Point) but when you arrive you feel like you are a million miles away from the city, work and all of the stresses that life brings. The minute those gates open you feel as though you are transported to a world where only peace and tranquility live. As the shuttle winds you down the steep hill towards the sea, you immediately feel your worries being washed away.
We were welcomed with a cocktail on the front verandah where we sat and watched the waves roll in until it was time to head to our room.

We were then transported to the island of Ithaca for the night (each suite at Tintswalo Atlantic is named after and inspired by various islands around the world.) Our room was exactly how you would imagine a Greek Island to be, white and royal blue decor and the calming sound of the waves at your door.

We dropped our bags and raced to the pool to shoot some content. Despite the overcast weather we were able to capture some amazing pictures given the beauty and uniqueness of the location. It’s hard to actually take it all in because it is just so beautiful. We also felt like we had the entire lodge to ourselves with no other guests to be seen.

Once we had gotten a few pictures (or hundred) we headed to the main lodge deck for our complimentary sundowners and canapés. This was by far the highlight of our stay. We had bottomless bubbly and delicious canapés while watching the waves crash onto the shore and the sky explode with shades of orange. It was one of those moments I will never forget and by far one of the most romantic evenings Nick and I have ever shared together. I truly felt like we were a million miles away from the ‘real’ world.

Once the sun had set we made our way into the dining room for our 3 course dinner. The food and service was amazing! It was the perfect end to such a special afternoon.
Needless to say we slept like babies, lulled by the sound of the ocean right outside our door.
We had to be up early the next morning because I had a presentation at work but Tintswalo graciously organised for our breakfast spread to be ready so that we could eat before we left. The breakfast was also a highlight, I just wish I could have eaten more. It was everything a breakfast feast should be from cold meats, to cheese and fruit, croissants and pastries and even homemade flapjacks, I wish I could go back just to eat more of the breakfast. It was the grand finale on an amazing night’s stay.

One last surprise was the throwing of the wish rocks, a tradition the owners started and wanted to share with their guests. So each guest is encouraged to make a wish and throw the rock into the sea from the deck of the lodge… My wish was that I would one day get to go back to this beautiful spot for it truly is a magical place!
Thank you Tintswalo Atlantic for having us and good luck for what will no doubt be a successful year ahead for your beautiful property!!
